Additional Dose vs. Booster Shot
An Additional dose of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is available at TCCH. Individuals who have received an organ transplant, are receiving cancer treatment, have had stem cell transplant, are severely immunodeficient or have HIV/AIDS are eligible for an additional vaccine. J&J is not yet available for additional vaccinations.
An Additional dose is different from a Booster. To clarify:
Additional dose: Additional COVID-19 vaccine for severely immunocompromised people who do not build enough protection from the first two vaccinations.
Booster: COVID-19 vaccine for people who had a normal response and built enough protection after vaccination. Booster shots are not yet available.
